Football Goals: Pass to Rush

Hardly any football teams are 50-50 in their amount of pass plays to run plays called. Look at Ohio State. Last year they relied heavily on the running game, about 70-30. So far after three games, Ohio State has looked 60-40, pass to rush. Teams change with time and players.
"We try to adapt to the players and their skill set." Coach Adams said Monday, following the Independence Blue Devils 46-20 blowout victory over Cardinal. "Right now we're about 60-40, pass. Our goal is to be 50-50."
If you think about it, 50-50 is a tough feat to accomplish, because that means your offense is completely balanced.

Independence lines up in a Shot Gun formation for offense, which enables the quarterback to see and read the defensive ends. And any questions regarding quarterback draws adding to the run percentage have been answered.
"Yeah. We don't actually call quarterback draws."
If the quarterback can sense an overwhelming amount of pressure closing in on him, he can escape and run, ditching the original play call. This type of situation usually turns into an option play, which is where the quarterback can decide if he wants to pitch the ball to a back or if he wants to continue up the field.
Stay with Blue Devil's Den as we continue "up the field" heading into the second half of the week. Don't forget to comment or use the hashtag #DeviloftheWeek to submit your choice for Devil of the Week! The winner will be announced Friday!
Go Blue Devils!
